What is the Brunei Tennis Club?

The Brunei Tennis Club (or BTC as its fondly known) used to be at Tapak Kuda many many moons ago. We have been at our present facility for nearly 15 years now. BTC has seven courts for the use of its members.

The members enjoy a number of other facilities including a tv room, reading room, snooker room, table tennis and a gymnasium.

The BTC building also has two meeting rooms, and a banquet hall for hire/rent. Interested parties should call 2344308 or 8719566.

Arthinis Cafe and Catering (famous for its nasi kandar) operates a restaurant at our club house. They have wifi connection and a large tv screen to watch your favouriate tennis matches.

Phillipine Tennis Association using our facilities for their tournament.

To encourage the game of tennis, the Management Committee of BTC has developed a series of programs for companies, schools and hotels to use our facilities. Coaching can also be arranged for the staff of these organisations on special "tennis days". For further information, please contact 8719566.

Bad Timing or What???

Talk about bad timing..........while one of the greatest tennis matches was being played out, we were at a local hotel having dinner with the newly elected Management Committee of the Club, hmmm.....

Well, Nadal came through again.....after defeating Fernando Verdasco in a gruelling 5hr 14 minutes semifinal on Friday (the longest match in the history of the Australian Open), he won the finals on Sunday against Roger Federer...

This guy is fit....although Federer had a longer rest as he finished his semifinal match (against Roddick) a day earlier, Nadal still managed to fight through a 4hr 23 minutes five sets final on Sunday.....The tournament has not had a five-sets final since 1988....

He needed one more win to square Sampras's record...so near..so near...

Well I suppose we will catch the highlights at the club later this evening....:(

thanks to Rano who posted an article on the Club on his site Ranoadidas.com...thanks Rano..appreciate it......coincidentally, we met up with Rano at the hotel..he was covering a lion dance performance at the hotel premises....so I guess you didnt catch the match either?....

Also, thank you to Conia who announced on her Sunday "Pilihan" show that the Brunei Tennis Club is having a membership promotion, in conjunction with the 25th National Day celebrations....entrance/joining fee is reduced to $100 from $150...anytime you want a game, Conia.....just let us know.....:)

Sunset at the Club

Everytime it rains, members are usually saddened, not because we do not value God's gift of abundance of rain but because we miss out on another day of exercise and our beloved game of hitting a yellow ball around (go figure!)

However, if we sit back and think about it a bit, the rain brings spectacular sunsets which i would like to share with you.

Some of our die-hard members actually prefers to play in the drizzling rain. Even mopping the courts after the rain is worth the effort for their beloved game.

The newly elected Management Committee 2009, of the Brunei Tennis Club, had its first meeting of 2009, on Thursday 29th January 2009.

Amongst the items discussed were how to promote tennis to the general public, particularly school children and organisations.

In view of this, Brunei Tennis Club, in conjunction with Brunei Darussalam's 25th National Day, will be having a promotional rate for the entrance fee, from $150 to $100 one-off payment.

Monthly membership rates ranges from student membership at $15, personal membership at $35, family membership at $55-75 and corporate membership (for a maximum of four members) at $ 125.

BTC has seven courts available to its members and parties and/or organisations interested to hire the courts for their organisations' use. Apart from being a Tennis Club, BTC is also a social club. The Social Secretary is specifically tasked to organise gatherings and events for its members.

The Captain and two vice-captains are tasked to organise tournaments, friendly games with clubs within and outside Brunei Darussalam, and to assist with the development of the skills of our members. Their duties also include the fostering of tennis skills amongst the younger players and beginners to the game.
